Edith Gold Button Ribbed Knit Cardigan

The Edith gold button ribbed knit cardigan is a fine vertical rib in muted cocoa brown, closed at the center front by four polished gold-tone ball buttons. The buttons sit wide apart, so the front opens into small keyhole gaps between them.

The neckline is round and collarless, finished with a narrow self-fabric ribbed neckband, and the top button sits just below it. Skin shows through the keyholes at the upper chest, sternum and midriff. Below the lowest button the opening continues as a long center-front slit to the hem, where the two front panels fall as curved diagonal points, one hanging lower than the other, reaching roughly upper thigh. Long set-in sleeves fit through the upper arm and forearm, then flare from the elbow into a bell with a lightly scalloped edge at the base of the hand. As photographed it is fitted through the bust, waist and sleeves, and it is styled over wide-leg denim.

How much skin do the gaps between the buttons show?
The four buttons are spaced wide apart, so the front opens into small keyhole gaps between them. In the photograph skin is visible at the upper chest, sternum and midriff. Below the lowest button the front stays open as a long slit down to the hem.

Do I need to wear anything underneath?
That depends on how much you want on show. It is photographed worn on its own, with the keyholes left open. A fitted camisole or a bandeau underneath will close the gaps if you would rather have more coverage.

Is the hem supposed to be uneven?
Yes, it is asymmetric by design. The two front panels part below the lowest button and hang as curved, pointed diagonals, one lower than the other, reaching roughly upper thigh. The edge is curved and pointed rather than straight.

Wash at 30C maximum with like colors, do not bleach, and iron at 110C maximum. Do not dry clean.
