Roseline Tie-Back Bell-Sleeve Cardigan

The Roseline tie-back cardigan is shaped from behind. A self-fabric belt knots in a bow at the back waist, drawing in a fine cream viscose knit that falls open at the front over a deep V.

It is cut with a dropped shoulder and a relaxed line through the bust, pulled in at the waist by the tie, then released again over the hip. The hem sits at the top of the thigh and opens at each side seam. The sleeves flare from the elbow into a wide bell cuff that covers part of the hand. One gold teardrop button sits at the base of the V, and below it the two front bands hang open to the hem. The V itself drops to roughly underbust, so most people will want a camisole underneath. Wear it with the wide white trousers shown, or over a slip dress.

Questions

What holds the shape at the waist?
The tie belt at the back. It is cut from the same knit, wraps to the back waist and knots in a bow, with the ends hanging to mid-thigh. Loosen or tighten it to set how close the waist sits.

Is there a button at the front?
One, a gold teardrop at the base of the V where the two ribbed bands meet. Below it the fronts hang open all the way to the hem.

How low is the V, and what goes under it?
It drops to roughly underbust. The knit is opaque, so coverage is only a question at the neckline itself. A camisole or a fitted vest underneath is what most people wear with it.

Are the sleeves ordinary sleeves?
No. They are set on a dropped shoulder and flare into a bell cuff that is much wider than the wrist and long enough to cover part of the hand. Push them back if you want the wrist clear.
