Mahaut Denim Peplum Top & Straight Trouser Set

The Mahaut is a two-piece set cut entirely from dark rinse indigo denim: a sleeveless denim peplum top and a pair of matching denim trousers, sold together. Five mismatched hammered gold-tone buttons run down the front of the top, working through real horizontal buttonholes, and the same rigid cotton denim carries through both pieces.

The top has a wide square neckline at the front and the back, bound and topstitched, with wide set-in shoulder straps broad enough to sit over a bra strap. Four princess seams shape it through the ribcage and waist before it flares into a short peplum at the high hip. Below the last button the two front panels hang free and overlap, so the peplum crosses over itself at the front. The trousers sit high on the waist and fall in a relaxed straight leg with a gentle taper and a roomy hem opening, finished with a plain turned-and-topstitched hem. Contrast topstitching runs through both pieces, and the denim is a flat dark rinse with no fading, whiskering or distressing.

Yes. All five open and close through real horizontal buttonholes. They are large, sculptural and high shine rather than discreet, and each one is a different shape.
