Pierrette Striped Wide Sleeve Knit Sweater

The Pierrette striped wide sleeve knit sweater is black and white together, not solid black. Vertical black and ivory columns run top to bottom on the body and the sleeves, and every trim is solid ivory.

The stripe is knitted in, not printed on. Each column is a chain of short diagonal stitch bars in a plaited, rope-like stitch, so the lines read slightly broken up close and settle into a salt-and-pepper effect from across a room. Roughly half the sweater is ivory by area. The crew neckband, the cuffs and the wide hem band are all solid ivory flat rib. The knit itself is chunky, heavily ridged and fully opaque, boxy through the body with no waist shaping, and the ribbed hem band sits straight all the way round between the natural waist and the top of the hip. The sleeves are the other headline: dropped shoulders, deep balloon volume through the upper arm and forearm, gathered sharply into long, snug ivory cuffs that extend well down over the wrist. In the first image the model has lifted the hem to bare her midriff, which overstates how short it is. This is not a crop top.

Is the stripe printed on?
No. It is knitted in. Each stripe is a column of plaited stitches, which is why the lines look slightly broken close up and read as a monochrome salt-and-pepper effect from a distance. It is not a check, a houndstooth or a jacquard motif.

How short is it?
The ribbed hem band sits between the natural waist and the top of the hip. In the first photograph the model is holding the hem up, which makes it look more cropped than it is. Worn normally it is not a crop top.

How does it fasten?
It does not. This is a pull-on sweater with a round crew neckline, round at the back as well, and no zip, buttons or opening.
